Harrison Leifer DiMarco Garners Two Top Interactive Awards for www.verdesian.com
10.24.2006 - Harrison Leifer DiMarco has been recognized with two industry awards for the Web site they created on behalf of The Verdesian, an environmentally engineered residential tower in New York City developed by the Albanese Organization. The agency received both a Standard of Excellence Award for Real Estate from the 2006 WebAwards program and a Silver Award for Real Estate from the w3 Web Awards.
www.verdesian.com was designed to strategically support the leasing office for the 24-story, 253-unit “green” building, as well as provide a portal for prospective tenants to acquire a baseline knowledge of the building’s environmentally advanced features, and their benefits for tenant comfort and health.
Green has become an umbrella platform for environmentally sustainable building design and engineering, and The Verdesian is a leading model of how this concept can be incorporated into every phase of construction. Chief among the building’s many environmental features are an HVAC system that conditions fresh air introduced into each apartment, exceeding New York City energy efficiency standards by almost 40%, and a natural gas microturbine that produces 70 kilowatts of electric power, or 20% of the building’s base electric load, while recapturing enough by-product heat energy to generate 100% of the building’s domestic hot water needs. Overall the building lowers peak electric demand by 65%. The Verdesian also features air filtration systems that optimize indoor air quality (IAQ), and protects the internal environment through the use of finishing materials containing no or low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
“HLD designed www.verdesian.com to educate the market, as well as potential tenants, about the building’s green features and the Battery Park City neighborhood that surrounds it,” stated Greg Rohman, HLD Vice President & Director of Interactive Services. “The result is an engaging, dynamic site that enables visitors to gain a perspective and an appreciation for the building’s leadership on the emerging environmental landscape.”
HLD incorporated many of these into every page on the Web site through the placement of short “Did You Know” tips. Visitors to the Web site can also view complete floor plans of the residences; photographs of kitchens and bathrooms; and spectacular views of the Hudson River, the New Jersey shoreline, the Statue of Liberty, Tribeca, City Hall and the Empire State Building.
